How can you take care of your voice? How can you maintain healthy vocal use? What might be affecting the way you speak or sing? When should you seek professional help? There are many tips and tricks that can be used to keep your voice healthy and working at the highest level, even with high-intensity use. There are also ways that your speaking habits may be interfering with your sound production. Take this opportunity to learn more about yourself and how your voice can be your best asset.

Find your voice
The aim of this workshop is to find your most comfortable and effective voice. Lawyers, teachers, politicians, preachers, all are professional voice users and many find themselves in the voice clinic with nodes, polyps, overuse, or other distress. Many professional voice users have had no training in how to maintain their health and efficacy. With just 90 minutes of time, we will discuss the basics of vocal health, sustained vocal use for longevity, and how to use your voice to make a persuasive argument. By the end, you will have a warm-up that can be done anywhere in 10 minutes or less that will change the way you speak, and many strategies to punch up your speaking presence.
Voice Studio
This is an opportunity for students to perform in front of each other in a masterclass setting with an accompanist. Practice singing in public, learn how to work with a live accompanist, discover new things from watching others, and have the opportunity to meet your fellow students. Seeing and hearing the changes in someone else can help students to process concepts they may be struggling with themselves, plus you get to meet people who are just as passionate about music as you are!
Shakespeare 101
Does Shakespeare feel intimidating? Whether you are a pro or brand new to Shakespeare, there is always a benefit to returning to the basics. In this class, we will go over verse, meter and rhythm, the ways punctuation and rhetoric can help, and other specific tools to help your Shakespeare become clearer and more human. All while examining what makes Shakespeare so long-lasting and such fun!
